Growing up in the greater Seattle area, I spent the majority of my childhood and teenage years involving myself in any sport that caught my eye. Whether it was spending my time in a small neighborhood in West Seattle, or taking a short trip to the nearby mountains, I found myself spending all my free time on some kind of board or bicycle. As a young child, fixated on skateboarding, the sport consumed my life. In the summer of 2010 while skating a tennis court bench I spotted my very first polo game. After being astonished by this odd sport I decided I needed to give it a try.
Polo quickly took over my interest in skateboarding. Soon I was on the court every day, for games or practice. A few friends in West Seattle invited me to play pick up games with them, and we quickly made it a regular event. At the end of the summer however, polo in West Seattle came to an end. After meeting Matt Messenger, I started playing polo in different parts of Seattle. I was challenged there by some of the world’s best players, who helped me learn, improve, and influence my style.
Since my start in polo, I have played in several different tournaments on many teams, most notably The Jagwolves (Scooter Sackerson, Joey Halvorsen) in the 2012 North American Tournament, and The Gardeners (Sterling Quinn, Joey Halvorsen) in the 2012 Midwest Open. I had a great time being at the 2012 world championships in Geneva, Switzerland, and am grateful to my London Open team (Nick Kruse, Joey Halvorsen) for all the dedication that helped us take the trophy home.
Thanks to the help from The Assassins, Evan and Joe, and our sponsors, I am able to look forward to another killer season of polo!
…I also enjoy long bike rides on the beach.
